Industrial safety, labour and environmental protection policy
Karabatan Utility Solutions LLP is a part of Samruk-Kazyna Ondeu LLP and recognises its corporate social responsibility to fulfil the state objectives facing the entire energy industry of Kazakhstan. The objectives for the management of occupational health, safety and environment (‘HSE’) issues are directly linked to the Samruk-Kazyna Development Strategy until 2028 (Strategy). The Strategy provides for strategic initiatives to increase environmental responsibility.
KUS LLP has approved the Policy defining the key principles of KUS LLP in the field of quality management systems, occupational health and safety, environmental protection, energy efficiency and energy saving, which are detailed in the Integrated Management System Manual (Manual). This Policy and the Manual define and document the scope and boundaries of the integrated management system.
With this Policy and regularly held events, KUS LLP emphasises its aspiration to be an example in the energy industry, demonstrating its responsibility to the industry and society.
The management of KUS LLP realises the importance and establishes the work and development of systems in the field of labour protection, environmental protection, quality management, energy efficiency and energy saving as the most important goal of the company.
In order to implement this Policy, KUS LLP undertakes the following obligations:
- To comply with laws, regulations, corporate obligations applicable to the power plant's operations, as well as the requirements of international standards in the field of quality management, asset management, HSE, environmental protection, energy efficiency and energy conservation.
- Identify and analyse the requirements of all KUS LLP stakeholders. Ensure effective interaction, transparency, openness and consistency with employees and stakeholders of KUS LLP.
- Ensure availability of information to all stakeholders of KUS LLP.
- Assess the need for assets as well as their performance, reliability and cost of ownership at various stages of their life cycle.
- Regulate the optimal balance between costs, development prospects and risks on the one hand and ensure the reliability of physical assets on the other hand when selecting strategic goals and objectives for the development of the enterprise.
- To ensure consistency of strategic directions, goals and objectives of development, principles and risk management of the Partnership (including in physical assets) with the development strategies and requirements to the IMS adopted in KUS LLP and other participants of the establishment of the enterprise.
- Ensure integration of IMS standards requirements into the existing management systems and business processes of the enterprise. Develop existing and introduce new modern methodologies, automation and digitalisation systems, advanced technologies and materials when planning, organising, carrying out and managing routine maintenance and overhaul of the enterprise's assets.
- Use criteria for assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of process performance to make capital investment and other asset value management decisions.
- Ensure improvement in the effectiveness of monitoring on: quality management, asset management, occupational health and safety, energy efficiency and environmental aspects, to identify issues and further set goals and objectives and achieve them to ensure sustainable development of the company and continuous improvement of the IMS.
- Support plant personnel in their activities and ensure a culture of collaborative group work focused on achieving IMS objectives.
- Ensure safe working conditions for employees and contractors, develop a responsible attitude towards quality management, asset management, occupational health and safety, environmental protection and energy efficiency. Ensure that potential risks to the health and safety of employees, contractors and the public are identified, eliminated or controlled and minimised.
- To ensure protection of the environment within the area of the plant's impact on it, control and prevention of environmental pollution, minimisation of harmful impact, taking into account social and economic factors.
- Provide support for the procurement of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly goods and energy-efficient works and services.
- Provide senior management oversight and review of the organisation's operations to ensure continuous improvement of systems in the areas of quality, asset management, health, safety, energy efficiency, energy conservation and environmental protection.
- To ensure documented familiarisation of all employees, contractors and other stakeholders with the requirements of this Policy. Ensure that the management and all employees of KUS LLP understand and apply this Policy in practice.
The top management of KUS LLP assumes responsibility for the implementation of this Policy, as well as for the achievement of goals and objectives in the field of quality, asset management, occupational health and safety, environmental protection, energy efficiency and energy saving, as well as for regular analysis for suitability and, if necessary, revision of this Policy.
